Think you're interested in a career in event planning and production? The Events Company is interested in hearing from you. Below is our guidelines for submitting an employment or intern request.

Internship and Hiring Guidelines

The purpose of these guidelines is to assist individuals seeking an internship or employment with The Events Company.

  1. Numerous federal, state and local laws prohibit discrimination in employment, and those laws apply to every phase of the employment relationship, including hiring.  The federal laws, which apply to employers in all 50 states, generally prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, gender, pregnancy, national origin, religion, disability and age.
  1. All persons seeking an internship or employment are required to submit a resume and cover letter.
  1. Research about The Events Company.  Your resumes and cover letters should show an understanding of our business and industry.
  1. Email to us your resume and cover letter as a Microsoft Word document.  We ask for it in this format so we can review your formatting skills.
  1. The subject line should be specific, for example “Smith Seeking Internship with The Events Company.”
  1. In your email to us, include a summary of who you are, what position you are seeking, and how you found out about The Events Company.  We ask this to see how well you compose your thoughts in an intelligent and thoughtful manner.  Please note that we view emails as an important business communication tool.  Proper sentence structure and email format is important.
  1. Your resume does not have to be on one page.  Please include all relevant information.
  1. Include references with complete contact information and their relationship to you (e.g. former employee, family friend, etc.).
  1. Typos and grammatical errors are considered a serious lack of attention to detail and should be avoided.
  1. We recognize that opportunities to intern in a special events production company are limited in Central New York.  As such, we believe it is our professional duty to teach and develop up and coming event professionals. We have had many interns over the years and find the experience rewarding.  We take pride in seeing former interns develop into leaders in the field.
  1. Include in your cover letter the conditions of your internship as it pertains to the number of hours and hours per week.  Generally, we prefer interns who are able work over 30 hours per week as we found this provided the best overall experience for the intern.
